Yes! The summer vacation is here. Time to relax, do fun things together, and above all, enjoy the nice weather and each other. Although summer vacation is a thoroughly enjoyable time, it can sometimes also cause stress for parents. How do you keep your children busy during the summer vacation? Here are a few fun ideas and tips that you can do together.

Guaranteed fun!

  1. Outdoor Playtime

Nothing beats traditional outdoor playtime. Let your child play outside with friends. Not only is this healthy, but children can also burn off energy this way. It'll be much quieter in the evenings too ;)

  1. Picnicking

Why have lunch indoors when you can go out for a picnic together? Choose a nice spot in nature or book a picnic nearby, the choice is yours. Prefer to prepare the lunch yourselves? The preparation for the picnic can be just as enjoyable. Bake sandwiches together, spread raisin buns, and fill the basket. We know what we'd prefer!

  1. Bubble Blowing and Water Fun

Kids love blowing bubbles. But there are also various games you can play outside with water bottles. Or how about a water balloon fight? Water fun on warm summer days provides the necessary cooling and hours of entertainment.

  1. Get Creative with Salt Dough

Making salt dough is a fun way for kids to pass the time and it's also versatile. Make the coolest figures together or craft a beautiful animal; with salt dough, you can let your imagination run wild. Don't know how to make salt dough? There are various recipes available online.

  1. Rent a Boat

Another fun idea for the summer vacation is to rent a boat. Pedal boat, canoe, or sailboat, it's up to you! A day by the water is wonderfully relaxing, and kids often love water. There are also places where you can swim, why not combine the two.

  1. Fun at the Amusement Park

A classic: go to the amusement park. In the Netherlands, we have plenty of different amusement parks where kids can have a blast. Climb, ride the merry-go-round, or if you're feeling really brave: hop on the roller coaster. Tip: let your child choose the amusement park, double the fun.

  1. Backyard Camping

Kids love camping. If you're not going away this year but still want to surprise your child in an original way, camp in the backyard! Set up the tent together and invite some friends over. This will surely be a night to remember. Super fun to do, minimal effort required.
