What is Easter exactly?
Easter is a Christian holiday that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It's an important feast in the Christian calendar and will be celebrated this year on April 9th and 10th. Although Easter is a religious holiday, it's also often celebrated by non-believers. Families come together to celebrate Easter with a delicious brunch or a real Easter breakfast. In many cultures, there are different traditions associated with Easter, such as decorating eggs or a proper egg hunt, and even eating Easter bread.
5 fun Easter games to play with the kids
Since Easter is all about togetherness and spending time with loved ones, fun games are a must. Here are our top five favorite Easter games, perfect for the Easter brunch or when you're looking for an activity to start the day:
- Easter egg hunt: You may already be familiar with the classic Easter egg hunt. Hide eggs around the house or in the garden and let your children search for them. The first one to fill their basket or find the most eggs wins the hunt.
- Egg and spoon race: Parents, you might remember this game from your own childhood. Give each player a spoon and an egg. Have them balance the egg on the spoon and race to the finish line without dropping the egg. The first player to reach the finish line wins!
- Easter bunny relay: Divide the kids into teams and give each team a basket of eggs. The first player from each team runs to a designated point and places one egg in the basket. The next player runs to the same point and adds another egg to the basket. The team that collects all the eggs first wins.
- Guess the word: Let the little ones take turns thinking of a word related to Easter and have the other players guess what the word is. The player who guesses the word correctly earns a point. This game helps your child make word associations related to Easter, making it not only fun to play together but also educational!
- Easter bingo: Create bingo cards with pictures of Easter-related items like eggs, cute bunnies, and little chicks. Give each child a card and have them mark off Easter items as you read out a list of items. The player who completes a row or the entire card first wins.
As you can see, there are plenty of fun things to do during Easter. If you're not quite done yet, you can also kick off the Easter breakfast in a playful way with egg tapping. Who didn't do this with their parents back in the day? In egg tapping, each player selects an egg and tries to tap the opponent's egg with the pointed end of their own egg. The egg that remains intact the longest wins.
